There is plenty of changes and additions coming to Walt Disney World in 2016 - but what should you be looking forward to this coming year?
1) Frozen Ever After opens at Epcot's Norway Pavilion in Spring 2016. The Frozen themed boat ride replaced Maelstrom which closed in 2014. Guests will be transported into the Winter in Summer Celebration, where Elsa embraces her magical powers and creates a winder-in-summer experience for the entire experience. The attraction will, of course, feature characters from Frozen, along with the Snowgies from Frozen Fever.
2) Rivers of Light begins performances in early-Spring 2016. The brand new evening entertainment offering will also mean the Animal Kingdom will remain open later into the night - giving the park a whole new vibe. The offering will not feature fireworks, but instead will feature; lighting, water and projection effects. "It starts simply and humbly, continues to unfold and grow as bigger and more elaborate lanterns appear, and then huge curtains of water and light emerge from the water with animals within them. And ultimately it takes off into the sky.”
3) Enjoy new and changing Star Wars experiences at the parks. The Star Wars Launch Bay opened at Hollywood Studios in late 2015, and new Star Wars themed experiences are already being added to Hollywood Studios. 'Symphony in the Stars' fireworks debuted on 18th December 2015, so 2016 should certainly be the year for you to check out this amazing fireworks specacular.
4) Disney Springs, formerly Downtown Disney, will continue to grow throughout 2016 with new offerings being added regularly. There are plans for new eateries and shopping experiences coming in 2016. New eateries include STK Orlando, and shopping offerings include; Zara, Ugg and Uniqlo. It is also expected that The World of Coca Cola is coming to Disney Springs in 2016.
5) 2016 will be another year to experience limited-time events - events returning for 2016 include; "Epcot Food and Wine Festival", "Epcot Flower and Garden Festival", "Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party" and "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party". New offerings are added to these events every year, so be sure to check our website and social media for more information as it is announced.
6) In 2016, the Magic Kingdom celebrates the 45th Anniversary. Magic Kingdom was the first park to open at Walt Disney World, and October 1st 2016 marks its 45th Anniversary. Although nothing has been announced for this anniversary, but stay tuned for more information once Disney releases any information...
