During Disney's Awaken Summer preview event this week, one thing has not been mentioned once and is not featured in any press releases - Rivers of Light. Other nighttime offerings have been announced and promoted at Animal Kingdom, including the nighttime safari and Tree of Life awakening ceremony.
The park will be open into the late evening throughout the Summer, but it is uncertain whether Rivers of Light will actually debut in the foreseeable future. There are currently two rumors circling the internet as to why Rivers of Light has been severely delayed; the first is that there is an issue with the high-tech local GPS wireless control system which allows the shows barges to be moved and positioned within 4 inches. The second rumored reason is that one of the large flower barges has sunk into the Rivers of Discovery.
An official announcement is expected in late-May, but if this show does indeed debut this summer, it will certainly be late in the season.
