Blog: Top 5 Disney Tech Tips

A Walt Disney World vacation can be saturated with the use of technology, in order to enhance the groups vacation experience whilst in the parks and around the resort. With the adoption of MyMagic+ and FastPass+ in the parks, the use of technology such as mobile phones, has dramatically increased – technology is used for everything from booking FastPass+ reservations, to checking wait times and planning the days meals!

As technology is virtually unavoidable now, here are our top 5 tech tips for your WDW vacation…

1) Charge! All electronic devices need battery power, whether it be phones, tablets or cameras, charge is vital! Don’t be caught lost when your device has run out of ‘juice’, pack your charger or a spare USB lead in your bag, and charge your devices at the dedicated charging locations around the parks, for example at Storybook Circus in the Magic Kingdom. Alternatively, purchase a rechargeable battery pack to keep your phone battery topped up. Also be sure to bring spare batteries for cameras – you don’t want to miss that magical moment because your camera had no charge!

2) Don’t forget about your phone – many smartphones have reasonable cameras which can produce some cracking shots! No need to lug that DSLR camera around all day every day when you have a camera in your pocket! When taking photos of a parade, children, or anything else moving, switch your phone into burst mode to ensure you get that perfect shot!

3) Let the children use the phone! Both Apple and Android devices have great WDW apps you can download from the app stores. Whether this be guides to the parks, Hidden Mickeys or even just games, they are a great way to engage little ones in their Walt Disney World vacation and to keep them occupied when waiting in attraction queue’s… Please though be a responsible adult and watch what the children are doing and where they are going!!

4) Involve family who aren’t in the park with you… There are so many social media sites which allow you to interact with those at home, involving them in your vacation! Whether you tweet what you are doing, or post photos on Instagram, family and friends love to feel in the moment! A new app that has recently become popular is Periscope, a way of live streaming your experience online, another great way to share your memories with family and friends who cannot be with you in the park.

5)Technology can provide a fabulous way to fully plan your WDW vacation. Be sure to download the My Disney Experience app before you travel, and there are also lots of other apps and websites which can help improve your trip! Disney Magic is also accessible on mobile devices, and a mobile version of the website will be launched in the near future! More about the additions and changes to our site soon!
